Ganesh Ramaswamy: The Industrial Operator Leading Southwire’s Next Chapter

A new leader for a long-established manufacturer

Ganesh Ramaswamy became Southwire’s president and chief executive officer in December 2025, succeeding Rich Stinson. The company confirmed him in the role in its 2026 announcements, including a July update to the executive team. Before Southwire, Ramaswamy had built a career across several kinds of industrial business. Johnson Controls’ 2019 appointment announcement described earlier leadership roles at General Electric, service as global president of Japan-based Pentax Medical, and assignments at Danaher. At Danaher, his responsibilities ultimately included four operating companies in product identification. [5]

Johnson Controls appointed him vice president and president of Global Services & Transformation in December 2019. The assignment included leadership of a global services business with revenue then reported at $6.3 billion. The company also identified his MBA from the University of Wisconsin and doctorate in mechanical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. [5]

In January 2023, Baker Hughes named him executive vice president of Industrial & Energy Technology, effective January 16. His appointment was part of an organizational transformation intended to simplify operations and develop growth across industrial and energy markets. By February 2026, Ramaswamy reported that his early months at Southwire had included visits to facilities and meetings with employees and customers. That public update places his arrival in an operational context. Southwire’s July 2026 leadership announcement provides a more concrete view of the organization around him. It added executives in finance, people and culture, and digital information. Christy Wright’s responsibilities expanded to include supply chain and business systems, while Burt Fealing gained additional responsibility for operational sustainability, environmental health and safety, and community affairs. Ramaswamy identified the appointments as supporting execution of company strategy. [4]
